Introduction

Well hello there! My name is Edmonia "Wildfire" Lewis. I am the first African-American/Native American female sculptor. The "Wild Fire" in my name came from my mothers culture of Chippewa Indian. I was raised by her tribe when she and my father died when I was four. My brother named Samuel W. Lewis, or "Sunset" as we called him, helped me attend grammar school when I was twelve and later helped me attend New York Central College which was a Baptist abolitionist school. Well thats all I have for now, but I'll talk to you later and fill you in on other things you might want to know. Goodbye for now!
